Once upon a time....

Flash back to 1999, we were a family of four. Happy in our new roomy house and comfortable in our ways. A few years later, the Lord blessed us with an additional little package, little boy #3. Now we were a family of five and sure that would be the end. As time moved on, so did we. The Lord used the time that passed to open our eyes to His will. Several years ago, Bob and I individually heard the call to adoption. It has been a long "pregnancy", but during this incubation time, the Lord has brought us to where He wants us to be. Spring 2010, we traveled to Ethiopia where two little angels were waiting for the Lord's timing - to become our children. Now we are home and can't imagine life any differently! What a blessing to be in His will.

Galatians 4:5 says "God sent Christ to buy freedom for us, who were slaves to the law, so that He could adopt us as his very own children." We are just following his model. A Perfect picture of salvation.

The funny things they say!

Nardos is so comical about the English words she chooses to use.  For about a week, if she liked something, anything, she would rub her tummy and say "yummy yummy".  She has for about 4 weeks called her face "feet".  Lately, her favorite word is "tomato".  Not sure why she has latched onto that one, but it has replace "delicious". She also likes to tell me when I have done a "good job" - which is typically about anything I do from reading a book to combing her hair.

Beti has decided that "yep" is a good substitute for "yes" and is slowly coming up with phrases that she spontaneously produces like "can I have some".  Today for the first time I heard someone say "how are you"  and she responded "good".  Before now I am not sure she knew what the question was really asking.  She routinely mispronounces "swing" as "swim".

Oh the things they say!

Crazy Times!

Ok ~ we are crazy, but taking the kids to the wonderful, wild world of Silver Dollar City just seemed like a great way to start Spring!  We teamed up with our cousins, Will and Sam and Uncle Bill and Aunt Jenn.  We had a fantabulous time!  Sure it rained and we were extremely over-stimulated, but it was fun.  The kids loved the rides and swimming at the hotel was truly exhilarating!  Once we convinced Nardos that going face-first in the pool water without holding your breath is a BAD idea, the rest was a blast!

Beti in her first School program!

Beti had only been in school for one and a half weeks when the First grade students were scheduled to perform the music program that they had been working on for a few months.  The Music Teacher said that Beti knew the music quite well.  Beti said that she wanted to sing, so we went and she sang.  In this picture she looks a little scared, but she did a great job!  Super job - we love you Beti!

Baking Cookies!

We have come to discover that so much of life is unpredictable.  Life is full of surprises and plenty of giggles!

Beti baked her first batch of cookies!  Check out the pictures ~ can't you just smell the cookies and the happiness???
